This type air conditioner I would think it needs nothing blocking it.

Please try again later.Ensure that the airflow is not restricted by making sure there are no curtains, blinds or furniture blocking the vents on the front, bottom, and back of the air conditioner. -- Also keep ventilation openings clear of obstruction. Avoid blocking the vents on the back of the indoor side of the unit. There must be a MINIMUM gap of 0.5 inches between the interior wall and the back of the unit. For a helpful illustration, see the Window Requirements section on page 11 of the Owner’s Manual, which can be viewed at the bottom of the Features tab on the product page of the Best Buy website.
