I keep a table top fan in my kitchen to help dry large pots and such faster. I also use it on the opal pieces when I wash them, never had an issue with water trapped

If this doesn't prove helpful, we recommend following the instructions in the "GE Appliances Ice Maker Limited Warranty" section on pg. 17 of the Owner's Manual.
