The Opal does not have a waterline hookup, so refilling the side tank provides the water for the ice making process.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Side tank (bin) - if you have it - is where the water goes. If you don't get the side bin, then you just refill the reservoir below the ice bin. My first unit long ago did not come with side tank, but I bought one to add within just a few weeks as refilling at the unit is a little clunky (pull bin out, pour in water, put bin back in... but bin has ice in it, so a few drips). Side tank makes it all so much easier - refill every few days - depending on how fast you use ice.
