Hi Bea- This is Sue at GE Appliances. We are happy to provide assistance. While the microwave is assembled for outdoor exhaust, it can be converted to recirculating (indoor) venting. The instructions are included with the microwave. All of our over-the-range microwave ovens are designed for adaptation to the following three types of ventilation: *Outside exhaust (horizontal), *Outside exhaust (vertical), *Recirculating (non-vented).
