  • QuestionDoes the door have a reversible hinge so I can choose which way the door opens based on the location of the unit?

    Asked by Sara.

    • Answer Unfortunately this model does not have a reversible door, to my knowledge only Electrolux brand front loaders still have that capability. Best Buy does have the ability to order them, but they aren't sold online. Stores can place orders for certain models.

  • QuestionMy washer will not drain it says clean washer . We're do and wahsihow do I clean the washer

    Asked by 20202020mymy.

    • Answer Hello 20202020mymy. The washer pump filter may be clogged: It is possible for small items from clothing or from pockets to pass to the drain pump. The washer does have a filter to capture these lost items so that they are not dumped into the plumbing or drain; however, if the items are captured by the filter, they cause a clog that can slow or prevent water from draining during the cycle. Please visit the following link to view the pump filter cleaning instructions provided on page 17 of the manual: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-90518-2.pdf Thanks for checking. • QuestionWhat do you do if the spin cycle shakes really bad

    Asked by Mar.

    • Answer When ours had that problem it was the bearings going out. They needed to be replaced. After several YouTube videos - we just decided on a new machine. Sorry.

      Answered by McMurry

  • QuestionWhy does the washer takes a long time to finish. Normal cycle takes about 3 hours and quick cycle is about 2 hours. I've noticed that during Drain cycle, it takes time to think and once it figures out, it bumps the time to more minutes. Any thoughts

    Asked by Wolfie.

    • Answer Hi Wolfie - The cycle times will vary especially when additional options are selected (Prewash, Ext. Rinse, Extra Heavy Soil, etc.). Front loading washers use load sensing and adaptive water fill to provide just the right amount of water for best performance and low water usage. The wash basket will turn briefly and assess the weight of the load. It will also do this after the load is saturated with water to assess how absorbent the load is. With the load weight and load type we can apply the proper amount of water to wash the load. This load sensing will add time to the cycle. Also, Occasionally, the washer may need to add more time to the cycle. This is mainly due to automatic load redistributions to better balance the load and reduce vibration. It is normal operation for the washer to add time to the cycle to rebalance the load. Common causes of out-of-balance loads or longer cycle times are a clogged pump filter (see Care and Cleaning section of the Owner's Manual), un-level washer, or exceeding the recommended maximum load sizes. Timer adds 3 minutes to cycle for each rebalance. 11 or 15 rebalances may be done. This is normal operation. Do nothing; the machine will finish the wash cycle (See pages 25 and 27 of the manual- Incomplete cycle or timer not advancing). • QuestionGE Right Height dryer: is handle to open dryer on left or right of door?

    Asked by SandySa.

    • Answer Hi SandySa - When delivered, the hinges are on the right so the door opens from left to right. However, the dryer door swing is reversible for flexible installation. • QuestionHi my GE washer barely have water in the cycle it doesn't get soapy I turned the water pressure up and it like a dry running cycle

    Asked by Angel.

    • Answer Hi Angel - Thanks for reaching out to us and for choosing GE. We are sorry to hear your washer is not filling with water and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Make sure the hot and cold water valves are fully open. Some models will time out if the washer takes longer than 20 to 40 minutes to fill. This could be caused by low water pressure or clogged screens. Check the water valve screens on your water inlet hoses. We suggest viewing the following link - FRONT LOAD WASHER - NO FILL: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=23094 - Also, here's the link to the Owner's Manual. Troubleshooting Tips are provided on page 28: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-90518-2.pdf - We hope this is helpful. • QuestionIs there a way to install a pedestal drawer on this unit and the right height dryer? I do know they have a built in pedestal but would like to have it up higher and a drawer underneath them.

    Asked by Trikmit.

    • Answer Hi Trikmit- An additional pedestal drawer cannot be installed with RightHeight™ Front Load Washer GFW490RSKWW (Dryer GFD49ERSKWW). The RightHeight™ Design with a 7" built-in pedestal / riser allows you easier access to your laundry without the added expense of buying separate pedestals for your washer and dryer. The added height puts your clothes within easy reach, plus you can use the top of the washer as a folding surface. The factory-installed pedestal is part of the design. Keep in touch! Sue

  • QuestionWhat is the run time for a regular load (not heavy duty or light loads)

    Asked by LLG.

    • Answer Hi LLG- The Normal wash cycle is approximately 51-60 (with not options selected). Also, the actual run time could be several minutes more or less based on the need of the washer to redistribute and balance the wash load to reach maximum spin speed. Thanks for considering GE! SUE@GEA
