I am having problems with it as well, as well as the wheels falling off, and its only a couple of months old. I held the start button for 3 seconds to cancel the cycle, then I push the start button again and it locks. I think that opening it mid cycle causes problems also.

Go to geappliances.com and scroll down to the Owner’s Center. Click the link for Appliance Manuals and you’ll need to enter the model number, which you can find on the door of the dishwasher if you don’t know it.
