Hello Valued Best Buy Customer, thank you for your question. Wirelessly, no. The switch can be controlled manually to turn on/off by itself. The Z-Wave outlet can only be turn on/off through an app from a hub. If your set up is to where the outlet is being controlled by an in-wall switch, then you will just need the switch. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to respond or give us call between the hours of 7:00AM – 8:00PM Central Standard Time, Monday thru Friday at 1-800-654-8483. Thank you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.By itself, this switch toggles power on/off like the conventional switch it is meant to replace. (Note: no z-wave outlet needed, this switch has a z-wave receiver built-in.) The lever "returns to center" instead of staying up or down like the conventional switch it replaces, and this particular switch does require a neutral wire when hooking it up (so power the z-wave receiver.). Since you mentioned z-wave outlets, they are separate and switch "at the outlet" itself. There are "in the wall" (several have a manual on/off pushbutton), as well as switches that plug-in to an existing outlet.
