The side of the VR Headset has a small touch pad for minor movement in games, however, some of the more in depth games let you know that it is recommended to purchase a Bluetooth controller.

In regards to a physical separate controller for some games you would need a Bluetooth gamepad of which there are many options depending on what you are comfortable with.
