“What kind of charger does the Vr gear require or is it just the same Micro USB plug?”

• The Gear VR (old & new) is powered by the phone. Alternately, the headsets do have a microUSB port, which allows you to plug in a portable battery pack, which would then power the headset, as well as keep the phone charged.

• VR Gear does not need to be charged (it links to the phone's USB like a controller) However, the headset does have a USB-C input on the VR Gear that acts like a pass through to your phone (and includes a Micro to USB-C adapter).

• The headset doesn't need to be charged-- your phone is what powers the unit.
