The screen door effect is from the phone used and not the actual headset. It is caused be being so close to the pixels on the screen of the phone. The screens used in any of the current models will have this effect. Until Samsung comes out with a higher resolution/ppi model this will be a thing. Most people don't notice the effect after using the headset for a few mins. though.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I didn't own the 1st gen VR, only tried out in the store. The 2 gen works a lot better to me.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, at times you can see the pixels of the screen. It is mostly not noticeable when actively watching a movie or playing the games.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends on the phone you have. If the phone you use has a better screen resolution then the screen door effect will decrease. Look at the specs for your old phone and the specs for the newer phone to get an idea if there are improvements.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends on your phones screen resolution. The Note 7 screen door effect is very minimal. Compare the spec for the phone you plan to buy vs the phone you used with the original gear vr. Higher resolution minimizes the screen door effect.
