The animal crossing game itself can be bought in a physical version and a virtual version. The physical version is a tiny card that is put in your Nintendo Switch and you don't have to download the animal crossing game. With the virtual version you can buy on the Nintendo Switch game store and it would automatically be downloaded onto your Nintendo Switch. With the virtual version is that its always on your Nintendo Switch and you don't have to keep switching games like the physical version does. Hope this helped!
