It pulls in air in, within a certain radius around it, and blows it back out to the front through a filter. So technically anything in that air; dust pet dander, odors, is "collected". it's not going to leave your home dust free if that's what you're looking for. Surfaces are still going to collect dust, because this is not an industrial air filtration system, it's an area specific air filter. That being said, having 2 indoor cats, I do appreciate it's ability to reduce some of the pet dander in the air and it does reduce some of what collects on the surfaces in my living room.

It has a hepa filter which collects even the most microscopic allergens:) And the UV option kills germs in the room at the press of a button as an extra feature! I have had one for a year and recently bought myself another one and just bought 3 more to protect high risk family members against coronavirus bc the UV light kills germs! It is amazing! And when you open the filter compartment you can actually SEE how well it filters the air by what it has quickly accumulated on the filter. I have seasonal asthma and when it is turned on I have no breathing trouble! Great purchase!
