• Yes. I use it with only the mattress on top in my guest room. It is actually a lot better than a box spring due to the amount of support it gives.

• Yes. We bought this just to elevate our daughters mattress off the floor and a traditional box spring would set the mattress too high for the bedframe she wanted for her room.
