“Why when I first bought this laptop and I tried installing the NVIDIA APP it said it couldn’t find anything to do with nvidia and tried to get me to install an intel graphics processor and then wouldn’t let me download/run any game”

This is because you're running the laptop without it being plugged into the charger, you will have to manually adjust it to gaming mode from the GiMate software to use the Nvidia gpu when unplugged from the charger.

When operating on DC mode (battery power), the system turns off the dedicated NVIDIA graphics card (dGPU) by default to extend battery life. This can cause the NVIDIA App to report that no NVIDIA GPU is detected.
