I'm not 100% sure, but it may be using "display stream compression" or it might doing YUV 4:2:0.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It doesn't. It is advertised at 170hz but it goes up to 165hz only. You can use hdmi at 120hz 10-bit color 1440p or 165hz 1440p with 8-bit color dithering. 165hz/170hz isn't that big of a difference.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Displayport 1.2/1.2a supports 17.28 Gbit/s (Data Rate), and 1440p 165Hz requires 16.3Gbit/s. It's enough to achieve 170Hz. However, it will not support 170Hz with HDR on, or even 165Hz. You can achieve 144 Hz with slightly higher timings with HDR on using 1.2.
