Online benchmarks have shown within certain terms the PCIE 4.0 has a small impact in this generation of NVidia Graphics cards. In the lauch time span of the RTX 3000 series the only available CPUs that have PCIE 4.0 are AMD Ryzen 3000 series pairing with B550 and X570 motherboards. Viewing comparitive benchmarks the different did not exceed 20 frames per second. In additional note latencies and frame rates were not sufficiently noted but should be considered as well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, PCIe is backwards compatible. You can put a 4.0 in a 3.0 slot and it will just run at 3.0 speeds.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes all 3080 will be able to use 3.0
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. All PCI 4.0 devices are compatible with PCI 3.0 interfaces. They will just run at 3.0 speeds instead of 4.0 speeds.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, most 3.0 products are compatible with 4.0 products and visa versa. For example if your motherboard is only 3.0, the card will work at 3.0 speeds, which is a lot btw, the 2080TI was the only card before that could've benefitted slightly from 4.0. Also, if I'm not mistaken, I believe at this time only AMD Ryzen 3000 systems can utilize PCIE 4.0.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is backward compatible. But I recommend a newer computer with PCIe 4.0 and a powerful CPU to reach the 3080 top performance.
