• The weight is in the rope only and the length is adjustable by cutting the rope, so it is a permanent adjustment.

• The weight is mostly in the rope itself. The rope is a larger diameter than most ropes with a thick walled tube. The tube can be adjusted down in length, but has no capacity to make it longer in length.

• The weight is in the rope only. The instructions to adjust the rope to your height is in the hollowed handles. That being said you could add a small amount of sand (haven't tried, may make a mess) to the handles to add more weight, not much.
