• The way chromecast works is your phone only gives the chromecast the address to connect to whatever you are viewing. Once it connects, your phone is only a remote control, not a content source. I use my iPhone to play Hulu or Netflix etc. and it all goes through my surround sound system. So, once you have the content playing, your device ( phone or tablet ) is ONLY used for control.

• When I cast Netflix movies to my TV, the audio plays from the TV speakers. If you have more questions, please call Google Chromecast customer service. The Google Chromecast Customer Service phone numbers for various countries are available here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6025971?hl=en I have used them in the past and Google Chromecast Customer Service is excellent.

• If you use the TV speakers for your sound, the answer is yes. If you also play your TV sound through your stereo, you will need to change the input to the AV system to the same as the output from the TV for Chrome Cast.
