“Chromecast connection setup I tried to setup the connection from TV to my laptop. The laptop recognizes the TV connection, but I cannot complete the setup because i have VPN. My question is: how do manually dis-able VPN in order to use the Chromecast connection? Can i enable VPN after i am done with Chromecast? Or is there any other way to bypass this way of setup and make Chromecast works? Thank you.”

You would have to set up the VPN on your router. Your laptop & chromecast have to be on the same wifi network
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There are several ways to approach this, Johnny, but you are on to the problem. VPN sends your data over a "shielded pipe" to whatever receives it on the other end, usually a server not on your local area wi-fi. If you are receiving the signal over the vpn and then you want to broadcast it over your local wifi to the chromecast, you essentially need two connections to your computer. For example, you could use ethernet over RJ45 (oversized phone jack) for your vpn and the wifi for the chromecast. VPN can't share with the chromecast because...then it wouldn't be vpn any more! But your computer can handle two connections at once, one for vpn and one for the local wifi to the chromecast. This isn't a trivial question because people who are in one jurisdiction sometimes use vpn's to get content that is jurisdiction-restricted. Like you have a vpn to the US from Asia... Netflix has just started restricting this btw, as they want to sell in each jurisdiction.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use TunnelBear VPN and it can be turned on and off at will. Others should be the same. Open your VPN app and look for a button or similar to turn it on and off. If not contact your VPN support and ask them how to do it.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.VPN connections vary. If there is a software you sign into for your VPN, you can close the connection and it will work fine. Just sign back into your VPN when finished. If you must stay on the VPN, you should be able to enable Guest mode on the Chromecast, which allows you to connect without being on the wifi - i believe. I would research "chromecast guest mode". Should answer what you need.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.In your router settings, you can disable VPN by logging in as admin. I had problems setting up chromecast2 through laptop. But could easily setup via iPhone. Once you are done using chromecast you can enable VPN again. If your router supports dual band. disable 5ghz band while doing setup of chromecast2. That is what the tech support recommends on their website. Hope this helps.
