No this doesn't give u channels at all. It is used for "casting" videos and such from other sources. For example, you can look up a video on your phone (like YouTube) and cast it up to your t.v. for all to watch. You can also rent online movies on apps such as Google play and then cast them to your tv to watch with others.

You can look up the networks on the Web site. But chromecast has netflix app and other streaming apps and what you can play on your Android device, you can mirror to you tv wirelessly with chromecast.
