• Buffering was caused by wifi issues for me. This could be your issue also?

• I'm not familiar with the NHL app, but yes our older Chromecast was stuck buffering quite a bit. Since we upgraded (no changes to residential internet) we have fewer issues with buffering lags.

• Ours consistently buffers which isn't the idea for steaming live videos

• Have not tried the NHL app but I am using NBC Sports app with the latest Gen Chromecast and lag is very minimal, no buffering and the quality is good whereas the gen 1 Chromecast kept buffering
