Does not have a remote. You can use it with an android or apple device (smart phone, tablet, iphone, ipad). Also you can use a PC or Mac, laptop or PC. Whatever you use, you need to install the proper app.

If you stream stuff from your laptop and you have your phone around the chromecast app recognizes that you're using the chromecast and lets you pause, stop or mute the video (as if you had a remote on your phone). Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The Chromecast I received DID NOT come with a remote. I use it to cast "things" from my phone to my tv. The TV remote handles the tv and the chromecast video/whatever is controlled by your phone. (cast, Pause, start, pause, etc.) I tried a few "phone apps" and the one that seems to work best is Megacast. Also, if you want to see the screen of your phone on the tv, you will need a "screen Mirroring" app.
