Yes you can do this by casting your smartphone screen to TV and then launching skype in smartphone. :)

I haven't tried that, but it should be OK because you can simply cast (I.e. mirror) your entire phone screen to Chromecast.

As per chromecast website, Skype is NOT listed as a compatible app.

May be in the future.

But as of now, Skype is not compatible with Chromecast and cannot be streamed to big screen TV via smart phone.

Yes, it is possible to mirror your phone using Chromecast.

No, the chromecast was only designed to stream media content from the likes of Spotify, Netflix, and Youtube. This device cannot Skype, since it lacks a camera, microphone, and the other capabilities requieres for a Video conference call

I don't see the option on the Skype app on iOS there is no cast option

Yes, however, you will have to make sure your wifi and connection is strong enough because I have tried doing that and then a few minutes into it the screen will freeze and the connection got cut to the chromecast.

Yes, you can mirror everything on the screen of the device to the tv ,if is android device is easier they have built in the cast to screen feature, if is Apple there are different apps for that purpose on the Apple Store.
