“Is this device suppose to voice operate your smart tv using Google Home Assistant. Some websites I've read said that Chromecast is what is needed in order for your Google Home Assistant to operate your smart TV but I have yet to figure out how.”

Hello, I have Google Home and I also bought Chromecast to make a perfect combination. One of the advantages of Google home is the entertainment content, such as Youtube, that you can say to your Google Home to play something on TV from Youtube, this is possible because Google home knows that you have a Chromecast installed in your TV. Quite simple installation and you can manage everything from your smartphone using the Google Home app.
