There isn’t a way to connect the AppleTV and Chromecast, they would just be different input channels on your tv (redundant). The Chromecast costs less because you’re additionally signing away your usage and preference info to be sold to anyone, just like google search and gmail. Solution 1: On your AppleTV, you can sign up for an NFL subscription or link it to your cable service to watch many shows on-demand (no extra cost over the cable/internet access). Solution 2: Best Buy also sells the modern version of “rabbit ears” (much better and smaller now) to pick up free local channels which would also let you watch the Super Bowl in HD, these antennas or powered antennas are often cheaper than even the Chromecast. Option 3: I just got a promotional call from my cable internet provider, where they tripled my internet bandwidth and added basic cable TV for $.10 cheaper than I was paying for just internet. Same provider, so it’s all a game of renewing promotions, but calling your internet provider and asking about unpublished loyalty promotions could also be an alternative solution. I really enjoy my AppleTV, I use it to demonstate smartphone usage and teach ppl how to use their phones, music, and Netflix. Hope you enjoy too!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Chromecast is NOT a standalone streaming product. Chromecast REQUIRES a streaming source (like on many mobile apps). Google "mobile apps for Chromecast". Chromecast device plugs into a HDMI port on the TV. I don't remember Apple TV having any HDMI port pass-through.

They BOTH connect to your TV the same way, and perform similar functions. If you have enough HDMI ports on either your TV or receiver, sure you can use them both on the same TV. Each one will take up a separate input, much like hooking up a DVD player, game console, etc. However, using it THROUGH the Apple TV? That doesn't make sense and neither function that way.
