It does require a power source,(cord and Adapter provided but you can opt to not use the adapter and plug into the usb on your tv usb for the power source)

You have to plug it into a power outlet. The HDMI does not feed power to the unit at all.

You have to plug it into an outlet. I've read in multiple forums that you may plug it to a powered USB port if your TV has one and that way no other cables would show coming from the back of your TV. I haven't tried it so I'm not sure if it works.

You have to either, plug it in to a power outlet, or a USB port. It does NOT get power from the HDMI connection.

This product sources it's power from the USB port on your TV. In the absence of USB, the USB cord is plugged into the AC adapter instead.
