• It does require a power source,(cord and Adapter provided but you can opt to not use the adapter and plug into the usb on your tv usb for the power source)

• You have to plug it into a power outlet. The HDMI does not feed power to the unit at all.

• You have to plug it into an outlet. I've read in multiple forums that you may plug it to a powered USB port if your TV has one and that way no other cables would show coming from the back of your TV. I haven't tried it so I'm not sure if it works.

• You have to either, plug it in to a power outlet, or a USB port. It does NOT get power from the HDMI connection.

• This product sources it's power from the USB port on your TV. In the absence of USB, the USB cord is plugged into the AC adapter instead.
