Not being familiar with either item as well, I bought both on Black Friday. Based on what I can tell from now using both, Chromecast is for streaming content from other devices (I've used my phone and laptop) to your TV. Think of it as opening Youtube on your phone, and having the video played on TV. It feels almost entirely dependent on the third device (1. Chromecast; 2. TV; 3. Phone/Laptop) to be used. Not much else functionality. The Firestick, on the other hand, is more independent. It comes with a handful of apps already loaded, and you can download more. You don't need anything else other than TV to use it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Firestick is for Amazon products and Chromecast for Google products like a Google Home Mini
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Firestick is made by Amazon and works like a Roku stick. Chromecast is by Google and you need a phone or tablet to act as a sort of remote to cast content to your tv.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. One is made by Google and one is made by Amazon. They both have their own unique user interface and content is for the most part similar. Try YouTube for a video comparison of the two products
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Chromecast works with MacOS/ChromeOS which is not available with Firestick. If you want ease of use and cost effective casting, then Chromecast is best. Firestick is preferable for Gaming and User Interface. And last some firestick comes with remote control. So based on you usage and requirements select the one.
