• Must have a source of wifi even the hotspot would work I tried using verizon data it will not work I also have an iphone

• It needs an ongoing internet connection to set up, however, what I read is it can be used, once set up, off of your phone's hotspot, but it needs one or the other to work. There are forums you can Google that can explain things further for you, but this is what I found so far. Hope this helps!
