“I have a 2006 JVC HD56G887 TV. Kinda a dinasaur, I know. However, can I purchase a Google Chromecast and turn this TV into a SMART TV or at least get it to find channels, Possibly ROKU or free channels? I am NOT a Technology Savvy person. Please help.”

As long as you have internet. But you need to use a cell phone, tablet or computer to connect to it. I have youtubetv that I cast to it. Almost every streaming service has casting or screen mirror capability. But there are no free channels on chromecast. You can cast youtube, youtubetv, Amazon, Netflix and many others.
