To clarify, there are no “channels” on Chromecast. This device simply allows your to “cast” video content from your phone, tablet, or laptop to your tv. You must use of of the 3 aforementioned devices to use chromecast. It is not like a Roku box or Apple TV that natively has apps loaded where you can just use the device’s remote to access them. However, most of the major television channel and video apps on your phone or tablet should allow you cast them to the chromecast (e.g., Netflix, YouTube, HBO Go, DirecTV Now, etc.).

Chromecast's allow you to "cast" videos to it via your iPhone, Android or even the Chrome internet browser on computers/laptops. You'll need to use apps that specifically use Chromecast (like the Netflix app, the Hulu app, the YouTube app and many more), plus you can cast anything to it from the Chrome browser on a computer. There is a little bit of a lag doing this though... it just depends on the specs of your hardware that you are casting from and your connection speed.
