iPhone X is unlocked and you should have no problem swapping out to a Google Fi SIM. Google Fi will likely work in Russia, but you’ll end up with far better coverage while in Russia if you buy local SIM and service when you arrive there. You’ll need to show your passport to start service, but most every country other than US has fast and cheap service available.

You can read on Google Fi Compatibility from their website that if you are not on a Google Fi device such as a Pixel device your network is T-Mobile which is also a GSM network; if you have a Google Fi device it will automatically switch (in the US) between T-mobile, Sprint and US Cellular. I recommend reaching out to Google Fi by chat and discussing with them.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Verizon runs on a CDMA network and Google Fi runs on a GSM network. So no it will not work. Also, you need an UNLOCKED phone (not carrier specific). You can find one on Best Buy under unlocked phones.
