Nest Cam (Battery) is designed with a built-in rechargeable battery. The Google Home app shows you how much time you have left until your battery will need to be charged, and the app will also notify you once the camera needs to charge. Simply remove it from the magnetic mount or stand and charge it using the USB-C charging cable. If you have to charge the battery more often than you’d like, you might want to consider connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter. Connecting to continuous power will keep the battery charged.

You are supposed to take it down and charge - however if you can get cable to reach it you can charge in place wherever installed
