As the item connects via 2.4/5 ghz Wi-Fi connection, your range is standard to the strength of a normal router and devices. Variations depend on materials the signal has to pas through, how many layers, total distance, etc. Personally I have three cameras set up across a two story home and have a single Wi-Fi access point (Google Nest Wi-Fi) with Verizon Fios at 2.4 and 5 bands and have had no connection issues to any of the cameras. Max distance, with a couple drywalls in between is approximately 30 feet for farthest camera. Check technical specs for maximums given.

It depends more on factors like your router and router placement, how many walls the signal has to go through, how far away your pool is, etc. I usually just take my cell phone to where I want to put the camera and then see how strong the wifi signal is on my phone. If it’s a poor signal, you could install a wifi range extender. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Please try again later.Wi-Fi signal strength between Nest Cam (Battery) and your router may be affected by Wi-Fi interference like physical barriers which may cause the limited ranges and slower connection to the Internet. We recommend placing your Nest Cam (Battery) strategically so that it can get the strongest Wi-Fi signal from your router. Your camera may be out of range (if more than 25 feet from the router) and can become disconnected due to weak signal. If your camera is mounted too far from your Wi-Fi router, you may need to extend your Wi-Fi network’s range using an extender, boosters or additional Wi-Fi access points. Nest cameras can connect to your Wi-Fi on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bandwidths, but 5GHz bandwidth has a smaller coverage compared to 2.4GHz.
