Your camera never uses more than 7-9 watts, so you can keep it plugged in without worrying too much about the power it consumes. Nest cameras plug into a standard household outlet with an adapter input of 100-240V AC, 50/60Hz and an output ranging from 5-15V DC depending on your camera model. Your camera’s power cable should be long enough to let you mount the camera where you need it. We do not recommend or support using a USB-connected battery with your Nest camera, such as an external battery pack that charges a phone or tablet on the go. These batteries can be unreliable, and the charge will eventually run out.
