Yes, it must connect to WiFi to work... but it's not truly wireless, because the camera needs to plugged into an electrical receptacle for power.

Yes it is wireless only. There are no direct connections to coax cable or network cable.

Unfortunately, yes. I had a situation where I couldn't get a wireless signal to where I wanted to mount the camera. I asked support if I could just plug the Nest's USB into a USB port on my computer. I was told no. I ended up having to get a WiFi extender.

With respect to my unit purchased November 2016, no it does not have to be totally wireless. The unit has an ethernet connection
