It may be depending on the size of the back yard. We have large house and it covers the driveway, sidewalk, lawn and street with one camera. Thus 2 should be enough.

For my house, to get complete coverage I need another 2 cameras. The best option is to put one on each corner of your house and one at the door. Indoor is a little more tricky to get full coverage and depends on the layout. I did all the installs myself. I hope this helps.
