We recommend a broadband Wi-Fi connection for Nest products as a mobile hotspot can have issues with bandwidth, availability, data limits and usage fees. Nest products work best with a reliable 24/7 internet connection, so you’d need to keep your mobile hotspot device at home all the time. For instance, if your Nest products don’t have a continuous internet connection, you won’t be able to view their status or receive certain notifications to your phone.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No direct connections. The camera connects to the Nest service in the cloud (internet) automatically when powered on. The Nest smartphone app on your phone or the Nest website on your PC also connects to that same Nest service. The Nest service is always in the middle. While you could probably connect the cameras to the Nest service through your phone's hotspot, that would mean they only work when your phone is near the camera, which is probably not a viable option.
