Yes, the camera will lose power if unplugged. That is why I plugged my camera in such a way that the person is recorded if they feel they have to unplug or cut the cord. For my front porch I ran the camera cord inside the house so they will have to come completely on the porch to the front door to cut the cord. All the while being recorded by the camera. No camera is foolproof. Many times they get spray painted over or if they are completely wireless just stolen. The key to catching a person is to get a camera that does high quality video so that if and when the incident happens, the video is good enough to catch the person and identify them.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is a surveillance/Monitoring camera, not ideal for security. If it's security you are after, look at the Swan or Nightowl Systems.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't plug mine outside, and wouldn't recommend it either because of concerns like yours. I just run my cable inside and plug to outlet WITHIN the home. I understand your point. Good luck.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is also my concern, as there is no safety collar or anything to prevent a thief from covering their face and knocking the camera down or cutting the cable. And since the cable is very long and has a huge round block on it, it screams "Here I am, cut me". But, as someone said to me, "thieves are lazy" so hopefully the effort and the camera itself deter them and they just move along. Good news is, unless they have covered their face or you only have 1 camera aimed at the spot the one they go after, your video proof is already in the Nest Aware cloud.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Camera and it's power cord should be high up or hard to access as someone can disable it by unplugging it or disabling the camera (spraying it, stealing it, etc.)
