Depending on your layout of windows and doors in the room you may be able to optimize the number of sensors. For example, in my case I had a patio door and 2 windows across from the door. I installed the nest detect on the door such that now it is able to cover the door open close as well as windows for any movement. This way I did not need to put 2 additional sensors on the windows. You have to test out your layout to make sure that the range of motion which is typically 12-15 feet is sufficient to cover the entry points you are looking to secure.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends on how secure you want or need to feel. You can use one motion detector which will serve both purposes I had both depending on the room and size. Last line of defense is stand your ground law. That’s my favorite security system. Hopefully never have to use it. If your a thief you definitely don’t want to break into my house. ⚰️⚰️
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I installed one in the corner hat way it would detect windows and motion. The only thing would be if you’re home the motion sensors are disabled in those rooms.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The detects have a range of 15ft (I've verified). If your room is rather large then a 2nd may be needed. We currently have 3 in our home and they cover nearly 100% of the areas we want.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Well this is really a how secure do you want your home question, if you want the intruder to be detected before they enter the home then yes a sensor on every door and window is needed. If you feel secure with allowing them to enter the home and then be detected by a motion detector then no sensors are not needed on every window. Keep in mind though, depending on how your windows and doors are designed, a thief may only need to break the glass and crawl or enter in, never actually opening the door or window. At this point your last line of defense is that motion detector. So if they are all glass and can simply be shattered and crawled through it may not be worth installing sensors on everyone. This is a downside to this system as it doesn’t offer acoustic glass break detectors like most professional alarm systems which would protect against a thief shattering a window or glass door and entering and being able to walk around the home before a motion sensor was tripped.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Depends on what type of coverage you are looking for. If you want it to detect the door or window opening - then yes each one needs one. If you want to detect motion, the Detect comes with a bracket for the corner of a room that you could enable it to solely act as a motion detector picking up a larger area. When you set it up, the app will walk you through it and even has you walk around the room so you can see where the Detect picks up your motion.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will need to install one on every window and door you want to monitor.
