I have 3 of them on sliding glass doors. They are very easy to install. You can set up the system to give you an audible sound when doors are opened on the base station, it will not give you a notification on your phone unless the alarm is set.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will make an audible sound everything the sliding door is opened assuming you have the nest secure system set up already

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have one on my patio door and it works great. The alert options can be somewhat customized to your liking. Just go into your menu In the app.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have one on a slide glass door. Works fine because it's sensitive enough that you can have some distance between the sensor and the magnet. The Nest Secure system makes a noise when you open a door or window that has the Nest Detect sensor on it--and it will push a notification to your phone if the system is armed. The sensor does not make a noise, and the sensor won't work by itself without the Nest Secure system.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You need the Nest alarm base for this sensor to work. It is a separate product and the Nest sensors will not work without it. If you have the alarm base then you can use these sensors on sliding doors. The app will indicate if the door is open or closed but won't push a notification to you. The alarm base will make a sound though if you want it to when door or windows are open so long as they have these sensors installed.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The sensors will work anywhere you can get them installed and lined up. They are simple devices. One part is the electronic part that pairs it to your hub and communicates wirelessly. The other part is just a magnet encased in plastic. Once the magnet moves far enough away from the electronic portion the sensor is triggered as open.
