It can be set to send you an alert if the temp goes below a safety temp. I don't think it will specifically will say "heater broken" but should be enough to let you know something is not right

Yes. It's suppose to alert you of any abnormal issue. It will notify you via phone if temps become what's considered dangerously low or high between roughly 45 - 100 degrees. Hope this helps

I am not sure if the thermostat would actively alert you to a failure to the heating system, but its current reading and the setting can be easily viewed from your smartphone app and any drastic drop in temperature should be an obvious indicator. Though there could be alert set up feature for a cut off temperature that you may want to check up in the user manual.

I don't think it will notify you of a power failure. It can be set to tell you when to change the air filter but that's about it.

The system has an Eco and Emergency mode, that allows a high and low temp. The unit also has a safe zone between 50 and 90 degrees, if I remember correctly, as long as there is power.
