“What if my wifi is not working but my power is on. Will the furnace and AC still heat and or cool? Sometimes my wifi just quits.. problem not mine but at the telephone company.. it might be down for an hour.. will I lose control of my heating or cooling or can I manually adjust what is necessary? There is not and issue with power... just wifi”

Yep the thermostat will function on its own without a connection...you just won't be able to access the remote features

Please try again later.HI, Your thermostat should still work as it is hardwired into the heating and cooling unit. the wifi is only used for the app functions (recognizing when you arrive/leave etc). The normal thermostat functions are not dependent on Wifi (at least this is how my Nest Thermostat works)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't think it needs to maintain ISP connection to function properly, but rather your local wifi network (to detect if you're home or not). When you say your wifi is down I'm assuming you mean your wifi is still emitting a signal, but there is no internet connection. Based on the network traffic I've seen on mine I'm guessing that the device calls out to the nest servers for updates and weather info, but most of the activity happens within your LAN and not the WAN.

You click the screen to get to any of the available menus (if you want to switch from heat to cool, etc) and turn the silver ring (it's a dial) to adjust temperature or navigate menus. The only thing you lose if WiFi goes down is the ability to control the Nest from your phone out of your house or for it to track if you are home or if you've left.
