Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They sure can! The Nest Protect opts for a wireless interconnect (instead of the traditional wired) regardless of if you're using the battery version or the hard wired version. Here's the section about it on their site (which specifically states they can communicate with each other): https://nest.com/support/article/Why-doesn-t-Nest-Protect-have-wired-interconnect We just installed ours and are loving it. Enjoy!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes we have 2 nests one near the kitchen and the second in an upstairs hallway. The rest are regular wired smoke detectors and they communicate with each other with no issues.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, they all use the same wireless (WiFi) technology to communicate which has nothing to do with how they get power (battery or wired). You just need to make sure they can all get a WiFi signal.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. I have 4 Nest Protects. 3 Battery and 1 Wired. Zero issues

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes!!! I have a combination of wired and battery in an older home that didn't require a detector in all living spaces at the time it was constructed. It has been over 3 years, and the battery Nest Protects are still on the original battery, and working very well together. I am very pleased with how easy they install, and the information I have on my app to control them. Be sure to get a Nest Thermostat for your system as well. Don In Denver
