NO ... First Alert use 3 wires ... 2 for AC and 1 common for Alarm ... Nest only has the 2 AC wires ... it does Alerts to other Nests using Wifi
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Nest Protect hardwired kit only comes with a power (black) and neutral (white) connections. They supply 3 wire nuts, so you can terminate the red/orange wire, which is the wire used to link up all of the smoke detectors. So, no unfortunately, if the Nest Protect goes off, it will not set off the other alarms unless your other alarms detect the smoke as well. If you replace all of your regular smoke alarms with the Nest Protect, they will all communicate with each other and tell you which alarm is going off.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I replaced a wired First Alert Smoke/CO2 detector with a wired Nest Protect. Very easy to do. I only had the one wired detector - my others are battery. I think the First Alert uses a third wire to communicate to others. Nest only uses two wires and communicates with a wireless protocol to other installed Nest products.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have the same setup and I replaced 1 with the Nest and I did research about this and I read where they do not talk to each other. So your Nest detectors will talk to each other and if your other detector goes off then only those will all beep. They act as 2 different groups.
