“I have Nest smoke detectors no 1 version. It appears that if you buy Gen 2 the base plate has to be changed. Does the wire pigtail used on Gen 1 work on Gen 2 or does Gen 2 get a new wire connector pig tale”

• Both the base plate and the plug wire need to be swapped out when replacing a gen 1 with a gen 2. The wiring socket on the unit is different between gen 1 and gen 2.

• Gen 2 Nest gets a new wire connector pigtail. The Gen 1 pigtail connector will not work.
