I am thinking of getting the Nest - Thermostat E When I am away from home in the summer, I do not want to turn the AC off but want it to keep the temp at 78 degrees to keep humidity down and wood floors from swelling. Can I do that - ie hold at 78? null

Yes you can just like the original nest there is not an actual hold function but you can set up schedules.

Yes. You can set a time schedule and it will hold the temperature. There is also a cool to dry feature that reduces indoor humidity. Tons of other features. This is by far the best bang for the buck nest.

Yes you can do that. It lets you set the “away” mode to whatever temp you want. You can set it for 78 and as long as you are away, it will maintain that temp.

If all you want to keep the temp at 78° constantly why do you need anything more than a regular thermostat set to 78?
