Seems kind of pointless if u cant control each zone seperatly. Sounds like they need to be matched with a automated register to control the amount of hot and/or cool into that zone/room. Otherwise you are heating and cooling parts of ur home you may not want to.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The way it works is you need one main thermostat and then you pairs these with it. In the app, you scroll down to see what the temperature is in each room you've put it in and you can tell the thermostat to cool based on any of the rooms temperatures. You can only hook up one thermostat to your house. These are a wonderful and cheap addition. At a moment's notice you can see what the temperature is at your base thermostat or your garage or bedroom or whatever.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They are pretty slick because they send specific room temp to the thermostat and you can set and control temp based on time/ outside temp and room ie set thermostat to master bedroom at night. Our master is upstairs and typically runs 6 degrees hotter than the whole house so we can lower the temp in that room by lowering the house temp during specific hours .
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. These perform just like you described in your second question. This allows you to have only 1 Nest thermostat and the small sense devices monitor the temperature at the zones/ locations you choose. I have it where depending what time of the day a certain sense is the temperature I want instead of defaulting to just the nest thermostat. Makes me and my household comfortable.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I guess these sensors are just a more advanced way of not having a to travel around your home to check what the temperature in that is space at the current time. You just check on your adroid or Apple device what the temperature in those locations and if you notice it's really warm or to cold you can make an Instant adjustment.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The only way to have each room be a different temperature is to have a zone system setup using dampers; these are like valves that each have their own temperature sensor and can control the flow of air into each room, it's limited. The way these sensors work is simple; they are just telling you what the temperature is in each room, then the A/C can adjust the entire house to adjust for that one sensor/room. For example, if your bedroom is 75 degrees and the rest of the house is 65, and you want your bedroom to be 65, it will simply keep the A/C on until your bedroom reaches 65, which could mean the other rooms will be very cold in comparison. Yes, it' s just a fancy way to know what the temperature is in a different room.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you just buy thermostats and place them around your home it will help you figure out how to balance the overall temp in the house. But, the nest temperature sensors can be selected to dictate the target temperature of your heating or cooling system.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. These allow one thermostat to be temperature controlled from any room in the house with this sensor. Plus, the Nest App will show the actual room temp at every room where you placed a sensor. By contrast, if you bought a few thermostats for your house, and tried to pull the wires from your HVAC to each thermostat, you would still need manual switches to go from 1 to 2 to 3, for example, because only 1 thermostat can connect to 1 HVAC at a time. That would be a nightmare.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I’m not an HVAC guy, but I can tell you that the sensors have limited time periods that cannot be customized as of now. The current periods as morning, midday, evening and night. If you have multiple Nest thermostats, you’d have more custom control over the schedule, but for me they work fine. I have 2 thermostats (one for each unit at my house, and 3 sensors (1 for the unit at the rear of my house, and 2 for the unit at the front of my house). I have 2 of them set as priority for all 4 daily periods, and the extra unit would only be used if I manually switch to it at some point. There may be other factors in setting up multiple zones, such as baffles, etc, in order to create zoning with different thermostats. Nothing special is needed for these sensors, as long as they are within the 15m maximum range of the Nest.
