• The thermostat needs Wifi to utilize any communication. The sensors communicate directly with the thermostat and not through WiFi. If a sensor has a low temperature and the thermostat is offline, you will not receive a notification.

• You will need WIFI. You must also own a Nest Thermostat (Series 3 or E Series; series 1 & 2 will not work.)

• Yes you need WiFi as it is paired with the Nest Thermostat.

• The Nest Temperature Sensor does not work independently, and you would need a Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd gen, or a Nest Thermostat E in order to use this. With that said, the Nest Thermostats do have a safety temperature you can set to receive an alert if it falls above or below the set safety temperatures.
