The essential addition to your Nest Smart Home.
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I rate this product as excellent, 5 stars, due to the face that this is the essential item to completing your Nest thermostat, and Smart Home. When we first purchased our Nest thermostat, we had trouble keeping the house a consistent temperature. If I had the heat set at 70, the upstairs would get to 70 and shut off based on the temp the Nest thermostat was reading at the thermostat. With some adjustments to our vents in the home by closing some off and opening others more, we now have it under control, but mostly thanks to the Nest Temp Sensor. Having the ability to determine which sensor is the primary sensor in the Nest application, makes this an absolute necessary purchase at its price point. We now are able to keep the basement and upstairs zero to one degree apart from one another. For anyone with a split level, two level, or multi-level home, this should be at the top of your shopping list when considering the Nest thermostat.

Does what it’s supposed to do - and that’s it.
||Posted .Does exactly as it is advertised to do - get an accurate temperature reading and have the ability to create “zones”. I’m giving this 3 stars due to the price and lack of customizable parameters when using (can’t set specific times for zone cooling, doesn’t average temperature between all sensors). There’s no motion / presence detection, unlike competing brand options at similar price points. Had issues during setup with pairing the device to my thermostat, but after taking a break and trying again the setup was instantaneous.

Nest thermostat and sensors
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.I purchased a extra nest sensor and now I have nest thermostat and three sensors. I love having for locations in my house to be able to see the temp in a curtain room and able to set the thermostat to work off a sensor in a pacific room or floor off the house at different time of the day or night.

Great addition to new Nest E.
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Bought with the Nest Thermostat E. House layout has the thermostat in a room with a vaulted ceiling, making it difficult to reach desired temps in other rooms, specifically at night. This allows us to monitor and set schedule to obtain desired temps.

Q: QuestionWhat is the difference in using these vs. buying a few thermostats for my home? Do I only need one thermostat for my home and then allow these to control the temperature in each zone?
Asked by TH123.
- A:Answer The way it works is you need one main thermostat and then you pairs these with it. In the app, you scroll down to see what the temperature is in each room you've put it in and you can tell the thermostat to cool based on any of the rooms temperatures. You can only hook up one thermostat to your house. These are a wonderful and cheap addition. At a moment's notice you can see what the temperature is at your base thermostat or your garage or bedroom or whatever.

Q: QuestionCall me crazy, but wouldn't this sensor just make another area of your home hotter/colder? For instance, a master bedroom on a 2nd floor, naturally warmer because heat rises. If I put a sensor in there, wouldn't it make my first floor a freezer?
Asked by tomace17.
- A:Answer Sure, but I want comfort in the master bedroom if that's where I'm sleeping. That's what the time zones are for - you can tell it to cater the temperature to your master bedroom during night time hours only, but the main living area during the day.

Q: QuestionIt says the sensor can be used as the primary, scheduled as primary/secondary, etc. Can it be in a room as a secondary unless the temperature goes above or below presets? For example in a nursery could it be set as the secondary unless it got too cold?
Asked by ear0012.
- A:Answer At this time the Nest Temperature sensor can only be scheduled to take priority during certain times of the day, but doesn't have the ability to only take over if a certain temperature is met. With that said we'll be happy to send this up as a feature suggestion for you.

Q: QuestionNest is at it again. Why doesn't this device support 2nd or 1st Gen thermostats. This isn't a hardware limitation in those devices is it?
Asked by Xavier.
- A:Answer When the Nest Thermostat 1st Gen and the Nest Thermostat 2nd Gen products launched, they were designed without Bluetooth Low Energy capabilities and they run older chipsets with less memory and processing power than our newer thermostats. This accessory launch does not mean that first and second generation Nest Learning Thermostats need to be upgraded. They continue to help people save energy and stay comfortable, and they receive regular software updates just like the newer thermostats. They simply do not work with this specific accessory.

Q: QuestionDoes the Nest app provide you with current temperature for each sensor?
Asked by chad.
- A:Answer Yes, each sensor will monitor temperature in the location it is installed and you can control the rooms individually.

Q: QuestionWill the Nest app show the temperature readings of each sensor on the app?
Asked by Lawrenceismyname.
- A:Answer Yes in the app one will be able to see the temperature of the thermostat and each attached sensor. Farsight will show the temperature from the sensor (thermostats built in or remote) that is currently set to control the temperature.
