It did for my simple 4-wire system. Sometimes if you do not have the c-wire (to power the Nest), the Nest will still work with a work-around wiring, but you may give up the fan-only mode. It's best to use their online compatibility tool or just call them; they picked up quickly, at least for me.

You can run your system’s fan independently if your system has a separate fan wire (G or G1) that you connect to the G terminal of the thermostat.
